Common questions
Splitsville centres are open 365 days a year and open late on evenings and weekends. Check your nearest centre’s page for exact details.
Splitsville Bowl offers bowling at an hourly rate, or a per-game rate, depending on the location, with a variety of time slots available. Pricing varies by location and can be found by selecting your centre.
Splitsville centres have a maximum of 6 guests per lane. During special offers, such as All You Can Bowl, we have a 4-person minimum per lane.
Bowling reservations are not required, but they are recommended, especially on weekends. Book online by selecting your centre.
Absolutely! We highly recommend securing your spot in advance by booking online — select your centre to get started. You can also pre-purchase arcade game cards (at participating locations) and your bowling shoe rentals.
At Splitsville Bowl, the safety and well-being of all our guests, especially children, is of utmost importance. Children under the age of 12 are required to be supervised by an adult or caregiver over the age of 16. Running around the centre and horseplay on the lanes or at the arcade games will result in guests being asked to leave. Splitsville Bowl is not responsible for watching unsupervised children. Parents/caregivers are not required to be bowling, but we do ask that you sit at the lanes to supervise (and cheer them on!).
All Splitsville Bowl centres have wheelchair-accessible bowling lanes, except for our Calgary Glamorgan centre due to the age of the building and its being located on the lower level. However, all our other Calgary locations are wheelchair accessible. If you have any specific concerns or requirements, please contact us ahead of time and we’ll be more than happy to help make your visit enjoyable and hassle-free.
Reservations are non-refundable, but credit can be applied to a rescheduled date if the change occurs 48 hours in advance of the original reservation date.
Splitsville has a ball for every bowler, from 6lbs to 14lbs, with grip sizes XXS right through to XXL (grip size refers to the size of the finger holes in the ball). Your perfect ball should be comfortable to hold and not too tight on the grip, allowing your two middle fingers to be inserted down to the second joint. Please take care when picking up and putting down the balls, to avoid hurting your fingers or your back. Our 6lb bowling balls are perfect for kids, and we also offer ball ramps to make it even easier for our youngest players to enjoy the game and aim for a strike!
Yes, we prefer everyone (adults and children) to bowl in their own shoes at our centres, as long as they are clean, dry, flat-soled shoes. All open-toed footwear, including Crocs and slides, is not allowed for safety reasons. Bowling shoes are available to rent if needed.
A game of bowling typically takes approximately 10 minutes per person. So if six people were bowling, it would typically last about an hour.
The foul line is the black line across the start of the bowling lane. Beyond this line, the lane is coated with a special oil varnish to protect it, and the surface is really slippery. Please keep an eye on your children — they love to run down the lanes and this can result in injury. If a bowling ball or pin gets stuck in the gutter or on the lane, please ask one of our team members to assist.
All of our Splitsville Bowl centres host bowling leagues throughout the year. To learn more about joining a league, please contact your nearest location — you can also ask about starting your own league. Bowling leagues are primarily run Mondays to Wednesdays, with daytime leagues also available on Thursdays and Fridays. Select centres run youth bowling league programs on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Bowling is a fun and inclusive activity for people of all ages and abilities, from 3 to 93. Children under 3 can bowl with the assistance of an adult, and bowling ramps are available. Of course, we welcome guests over 93 to show off their moves too!
Splitsville Bowl isn’t your average bowling alley — we’re all about giving our guests the next level of entertainment, from arcade games to mini golf* and even go-karts and high ropes*. *Mini golf is currently only available at our Richmond Hill and Calgary Highfield locations, while karts and ropes are available at Stoked by Splitsville Bowl in Saskatoon.
We have a new and exciting platform for our arcade, Tigapo — a cashless, cardless, ticket-less app that can be used at any of our centres with Tigapo games* (we do still have cards available if you love that retro feel). Download the app for iOS or Android and create your account to get started. *Not available at our Guelph and Calgary Highfield locations. Those two locations run on a credit and rewards-point system on swipe cards (playcards): playcards are purchased with game-credit value, credits are deducted as you swipe to play, and points won are added automatically. Playcards can be reloaded so you can keep building up points towards prizes at our redemption counters — they can’t be replaced if lost or stolen, so please keep your card safe.
Centres with Tigapo capability let you use your account at any of our centres, so you can collect and redeem points wherever you are in Canada. Our Guelph and Highfield locations don’t currently have this capability, so their playcards are programmed for that individual location and prizes can only be redeemed there. Top-tier redemption prizes aren’t kept on-site and are ordered upon redemption — this can take up to 3 weeks, and our team will contact you once your prize has arrived.
Our non-merchandised arcade games are programmed to take only half the credits after 8pm, every Sunday night, at all our Splitsville Bowl locations.
Merchandised games are games where you receive a physical prize, such as claw games.
All of our Splitsville centres offer a delicious food and drink menu, including a kids’ menu, that can be enjoyed at the lanes or in our bars and lounges. Our menus include vegetarian and gluten-free options (availability varies by location).
Outside food and drinks are not permitted, except for peanut-free birthday cakes as part of our birthday party packages.
We take food allergies and restrictions very seriously. Please let our team know and we will do our best to accommodate your needs based on our menu offering.
Yes! We offer lane-side service for our full food and drink menu.
All of our centres feature a full bar with beer, cocktails, wine, coolers and seltzers — selection may vary by location. *Must be legal drinking age to order alcoholic beverages; please enjoy responsibly.
We love birthday parties, and offer a variety of bowling, mini golf and arcade packages at our centres based on each location’s amenities. See our Birthday Party page for more information.
Our online reservations tool has no limit on how early you can reserve your party, so you can secure your date well ahead of time — birthday parties must be booked with at least 72 hours’ notice.
Splitsville Bowl birthday party packages can be booked online, any time. If you need to book more than 4 lanes (24+ guests), please get in touch with our Events team.
Changes can be made to your party reservation with a minimum of 72 hours’ notice, by calling the centre directly or by reaching out to your Events team, quoting your booking reference.
Outside food and drinks are not permitted at Splitsville Bowl, except for birthday cake or cupcakes (please don’t bring a knife to cut your cake — we’ll provide one on the day). Due to local health codes we’re unable to store any outside food in our kitchen, so it’s best to avoid ice cream cakes, and we ask that all cakes brought to the centre adhere to our strict nut-free zone. Our birthday party packages include food and drinks, with the option to add extra items from our event menu — if you have dietary needs, please call your centre to ask about alternative menu options.
Yes! Bowling birthday parties take place at the lane, so keep that in mind when planning your decorations. We recommend party hats, balloons on very long strings (we have very high ceilings if a balloon gets away), and tabletop signs.
Yes! From team building and corporate events to social gatherings and celebrations, bowling and arcade games take your event to the next level with fun, laughs and a little healthy competition. Whether you have a group of 10 or 200 (or more), our Events team are here to help you plan the best event ever — get in touch to get started.
The sooner you can plan your event and secure your preferred date and time, the better — this is especially true for weekend events and during busy holiday seasons. We recommend reaching out at least 6-8 weeks in advance.
Splitsville Bowl provides all catering in-house and does not permit outside food and drinks, except for cakes or cupcakes. Event packages are available, including buffets and a la carte menu selections, to create a customized experience for your event.
Complete buyouts of our bowling centres are available for large private events — get in touch with our Events team for more information.
As of March 2, 2026, three Splitsville Bowl locations are completely cashless: Burlington, Calgary Meridian, and Waterloo.
We want your visit to be as smooth, safe and enjoyable as possible, and guests told us they value speed, convenience and modern payment options. Going cashless helps us deliver faster checkouts (less time in line, more time bowling, dining and enjoying the arcade), more convenience (pay your way with debit, credit, Apple Pay or Google Pay), consistency (our arcade has been cashless for years, so now your whole visit works the same way) and a safer environment (without cash handling, our team can focus fully on service).
Our cashless centres accept debit and credit cards, mobile wallets (Apple Pay and Google Pay), pay-by-link payments, and Splitsville Bowl gift cards.
Our event sales and guest contact centre teams can send guests an email with a time-sensitive link to an online payment portal — a simple and secure way to process payments over the phone.
We’ll always do our best to help. If you arrive with only cash, we may be able to hold your lane or table for a short time while you find another form of payment, if there’s availability. For future visits, the easiest option is to book online, so you can pre-pay for bowling, food and arcade cards and enjoy the fun as soon as you arrive.
No — none of our prices have increased, and there are no additional charges to use credit, debit or mobile payment options.
No, our cashless centres cannot accept cash tips. However, our payment terminals always prompt you to tip at your discretion, and 100% of gratuities go directly to the team.
Yes. In Canada, businesses are not legally required to accept cash — the Bank of Canada confirms that "no law requires a business to accept cash", as long as the payment policy is communicated clearly. Many venues across Canada, including stadiums, arenas, cinemas and family attractions, already operate successfully on a cashless model.
